What to expect as a new Shoubukan Student? - The first 6 to 8 months is all about forming a solid foundation. You will gain abilities in footwork and agility, hand strikes and blocking, redirecting techniques, basic kicking techniques, takedowns, sweeps, and throws.
Within the dynamic of a Shoubukan Class a person is exposed to the various challenges we see in our daily life. In the Shoubukan class the student learns various coping mechanisms to manage thoughts and emotions while staying on task. Similarly, the student will be exposed to training scenarios which may be seen in a real self-defense situation. For example, learning how to defend yourself against a handheld weapon, learning the strategies to utilize when confronting 2 assailants at the same time, also learning how to use parts of your body to protect yourself; your elbows, knees, head, and fingers. These are foundational to ‘Old School’ Karate of Okinawa.
I teach and share all I have learned over the last 44 plus years just as 'Old School' Kara-Te was taught in Okinawa, ages ago. Via private training workouts and planned small group workout training sessions.
Anyone will always learn more efficiently with 1:1 training. My goal is to encourage authentic Okinawan training principles and to pass on all I have learned. My plan makes it easier for people to afford multiple weekly training workout lessons.
Each week is a new start. Thus your 1st workout lesson of the week is $35, the 2nd is $25, and the 3rd is $15. The following week you start brand new again. This sliding scale promotes frequent training lessons without cost being a barrier.
